The kick-off of activities marking the celebration of the 33rd edition of the International Women’s Day (JIF 2018) at the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development was given this 1st March 2018 by the Acting Secretary General Mr. MOUNDI AMIDOU who also urged women to be role models for their sisters and daughters through their behavior throughout this week.
Under the theme “Intensify the fight against discrimination against women, strengthen the partnership to accelerate sustainable development”, the ladies of MINMIDT have selected four sub-themes for their exchanges from 1 March 2018 to namely: ” Women and IDPs ”, ” Women and networks ”, ” Women and sustainable development ”, ” Women and political participation ”.
The exchanges, which took place in a convivial atmosphere, had for main goal to sensitize and to build the amazons of MINMIDT on their role and their implication in the process of emergence of Cameroon. Thus, the sub-theme “Women and Industrialization Master Plan”, which is in line with the activities of this ministerial department, has enabled women to take ownership of this instrument which positions itself as a real compass in the process of emergence of Cameroon. Mrs NDI, Head of the Strategy and Industrial Promotion Unit and exhibitor of the day, suggested some ways for women to become more involved in the process of implementing this strategy.
The other equally interesting themes have helped better equip the women of MINMIDT in the rational use of social networks, the commitment to politics, and especially the good attitudes to have for the protection of the environment.
Following the activities scheduled for March 2, 2018, a didactic visit to a career near Nkolbisson. Visit during which, the ladies of MINMIDT will be able to touch the finger the practical realities of their sector of activity.
